The Pitch

This is an alternate playset for Masks: A New Generation, by Brendan Conway.  In Playing Solider, you play as children who are given a weapon or superpower, and told that they're the only ones that can fight the war for the fate of the world.  Inspired by Animorphs, Madoka Magica, Neon Genesis: Evangelion, and most Gundams. Now you too can be a child soldier!

Playing Soldier can be played without any knowledge of Masks, but is intended to be read in addition to the original text.  It comes with 9 playbooks, and a number of prompts to get you into a game as quick as possible!

The Players:

The Heavy: A character who relishes the fight, maybe too much.

The Leader: A leader of the motley crew, bearing the burdens of the team.

The Fused: A character who has bonded with their weapon forever, for better or worse.

The Tactician: A cold and calculating fighter, not afraid to pay heavy costs to win.

The Heart: The soft one, who still fights, but limits the violence where they can.

The Support: An off-the field fighter, who helps from the sidelines without picking up a weapon.

The Refugee: A stranger from a far-off land, who would rather fight here than talk to their homeworld.

The Veteran: A soldier of the war for years, who is very powerful but can rarely use it.

The Double Agent: A traitor in their midsts, trying to play both sides.
